Active citizens fund

Ziedot.lv implemented a project called Strength in People in Latvia using EEA/Norwegian financial instruments 2014.-2021. programme “Active Citizens Fund”.

On November 3rd, 2020 the Ziedot.lv fund signed a financing agreement with the Latvian Citizen Alliance for the use of EEA/Norwegian financial instruments 2014.-2021. Programme “Active Citizens Fund”. The project Strength in People is being implemented from September 1st, 2020 until August 31st, 2022, and is financially supported by Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. The EEA and Norwegian grant amounts to €80,931.13.

Strength in People was created to promote trust in citizen organisations and include society in resolving common problems.

The goal is to increase individual and company donations to NGOs. Our goal is to encourage social change and invite every citizen to participate by sharing their private wealth with others for the common good.

Ziedot.lv will help 10 NGOs address citizens and attract donations to their programmes. We believe that some day each NGO will be able to provide financing just from local donors. Professional, sincere and active organisations are our strength.

The project will include a donation box exchange point  - 100 donation boxes have been created and will for a set period of time be available for free to  the NGO for their donation activities (for example, having a donation box by the till at a local supermarket for spare change). The exchange point will be located in the Ziedot.lv office, and applications for donation boxes will be accepted electronically. The exchange point will also be active after the project ends. As part of the project, at least 20 NGOs will receive training on attracting donations and working with companies and private donors.
