Gabriels is a 19-year-old adolescent from Ogre with a very wide heart who loves nature, animals, and most of all his closest ones. Instead of studying for the intended profession of computer technician, enjoying the carefree life of youth and plan for the future, for 2 years now the young man has been battling a malignant tumour – a neuroblastoma that has developed in the mid-back. The tumour has bent Gabriels' back, reducing his body height by 6 centimeters, thus, causing severe pain and movement disorders to the point where moving around the home has become cumbersome. Because of the illness, unfortunately, Gabriels had to stop his learning process and start intensive treatment.
Gabriels has endured 10 chemotherapy and 20 radiotherapy cycles, as well as surgery. The treatment was successful and gave hope that the tumour has been won. The adolescent has the chance to resume his education journey. When the evil nightmare seemed to be behind and an ordinary life had begun, the tumour returned even more aggressive than before, spreading across the chest and pinching the nerves leading to his legs. To prevent leg paralysis, an operation was performed to decompress the pinched nerves. The surgery was successful, and Gabriels can walk again!
But the battle with the tumour must be continued. A medical concilium has prescribed immunotherapy with medication Dinutuximab Beta which can stop the disease. One original costs EUR 9 954,56, total treatment of 50 originals costs EUR 497 728. State reimburse just EUR 284,57 per original, and totlally just EUR 14 228,72*. Totally cost of treatment is EUR 483 499,28. Gabriels needs 10 originals after every 35 days in 5 courses in total.
The shock at the cost of the medication has not broken Gabriels' desire to live and fight the disease, achieve his dreams, live with his closest loved ones and live a fulfilled life until old age.
Gabriels, his parents, sister and brother are very much in need of help and asks for aid and donations from the fellow members of society to save Gabriels' life and fulfill his dream to beat the cancer!
