Help victims of the earthquake in Türkiye!
On Monday, 6th of February, Türkiye witnessed one of the strongest earthquakes in the history of the country. Thousands of people have lost their lives, and tens of thousands of people are injured. Over 5500 buildings have collapsed, including hospitals, obstructing the provision of aid to survivors. Search and rescue teams are working to save people trapped under rubble. Tens of thousands of people have lost their homes, they are now forced to seek refuge in shops, stadiums, mosques, and other community centres.
Donations will be used in collaboration with the Turkish Embassy in Latvia to buy the necessary items - blankets, tents, and heaters. It is also possible to donate humanitarian aid items (new blankets, tents, heaters, medication, and new winter clothes) by bringing them to the warehouse of the charity organisation Tavi Draugi in Ventspils iela 50, Rīga. Working hours are 10:00 to 18:00, Monday to Saturday. The donations will be delivered to Türkiye for free with the help of Turkish Airlines.
