For Ukrainian refugee families, the time to start school is fraught with anxiety. All Ukrainian children have been robbed of their childhood by the war! The families fled with one travel bag containing basic necessities, instead of belongings intended for school. Ukrainian refugee children have to start school from scratch, their big brother or sister cannot give them their bag because it is left in Ukraine.
In August, a collection campaign was organized in AKROPOLE Riga and AKROPOLE Alfa stores, inviting donations of school items - backpacks, stationery items, notebooks and notebooks for starting school for Ukrainian refugee children. The donated goods were handed over to the representatives of the association "Common Ground", who distributed the donations to the families.
On the other hand, on the portal Ziedot.lv, a collection of donations was held in order to give a 50 EUR gift card to the families of the regions, for the purchase of necessary school things for each student. A total of €8,170.29 was donated, to which Swedbank added its donation of €20,000 and Jānis Rozes bookshop added €5,000.
813 Ukrainian refugee students from all over Latvia received a 50 EUR gift card:
