Every day at the Auce Crisis Centre Namiņš, several dozens of Auce’s little citizens receive dinner and clothing for free. These are children who have become victims of domestic violence, who lack and who are missing parental care and love.
Living conditions for children in rural areas are often very difficult – unemployed parents and their destructive habits prevent children from receiving wholesome food, clothing and medical care. State social services are not able to help the families to the extent necessary because the provided benefits are not sufficient to provide for children and their schooling. The funds provided are also quite often are used to satisfy parental weaknesses rather than the needs of their children.
At the Auce Crisis Centre Namiņš, children are not only fed, but also clothed and provided with different pastime opportunities – they can become involved in a theatre drama society, go on excursions, learn computer skills, exercise or take part in Christian ethics classes, as well as lend a hand at vegetable cultivation in the local garden for the needs of the Namiņš kitchen.
Two thirds of children who visit Namiņš have different stages of disability, formed as a result of insufficient food, lack of attention and parental care.
To support Namiņš, its employees have attracted funding from local parishes and foreign foundations, as well as have received help from contributors and volunteers. However, funding is insufficient to provide the everyday needs of Namiņš because 60 small residents of the Centre have to be fed every day; they must be prepared for schooling and need to receive medical assistance.
About LVL 200 per month are needed for the successful operation of the Crisis Centre; Namiņš management and its residents really hope to receive support from contributors! By donating LVL 7.25, you provide a one-month residence for one child at the Crisis Centre Namiņš!
What will be achieved with this project? We will provide the chance for 60 children from the risk group and families in need to have a warm meal every day, to receive clothing and learning materials, and will provide them the necessary medical assistance and valuable pastime opportunities.
