Project plans include creating a Family Centre in Riga, Katoļu Street 14, where everyone young and old age can find a way of self-improvement and development.
As much as possible, all activities of the Centre will be adjusted to people with special needs and disabilities. With the objective to involve people with special needs in the Centre activities, workshops of art, music and movement therapy will be created.
The Family Centre incorporates the following activities:
School for Babies – training, practical lessons and consultations for new mothers and fathers (for children from birth to 1.5 years).
Aesthetics School – creative development based on music and art lessons for children from 2 - 6 years.
Kindergarten – for children from 1.5 - 6 years of age (for 1.5 - 3 years age group – integrated system).
Art School – lessons in painting, drawing, composition, textile art, fashion and style, environment design, computer graphics, animation (from 7 - 17 years of age).
Creative workshops for adults 18 and older… Lessons in different creative workshops – possibility to prepare for the entrance exams at art and architecture universities as well opportunity to express one’s desires of his or her creative personality.
Seminars and training for children, parents, educators, social workers about current situations in life and important themes – forming a family, relations between children and parents, psychological assistance to families in problematic situations, success in life, etc.
It is planned to involve up to 150 participants in the regular lessons of the Centre and to additionally work with several short-term and long-term projects, in which 200 participants are scheduled to be involved during one year.
To establish the Family Centre and begin its operation in 2009, premises need to be facilitated according to the specific activities of the Centre.
LVL 5 616 are needed to purchase furniture and facilities.
The project is implemented by: Culture and Education Foundation Upe, which has extensive experience in creative work with children and young people with special needs.
