August 2017:
On August in the animal shelter Ulubele were taken in: 35 cats and 53 dogs.
From Ulubele back to their home or adopted got: 30 cats and 68 dogs.
Each day in the animal shelter Ulubelle we help approximately 400 animals. We provide them refuge, food and medical care, if needed. Costs of maintaining one animal is 2 euros per day, for a senior animal (over 8 years old) – 3 euros per day. Each day 200 cats and 200 dogs which are living in the shelter eat a total of about 100 kilograms of dry or 200 kilograms of preserved (wet) food.
Ziedot.lv project “Do a heart job!” August donations - EUR 406.78 spent for the purchase of veterinary products, for the payment of veterinary medical services and for the purchase of animal food.

02.08.2017. Bella
10-year-old dog named Bella patiently waited for her new owners 2 years. August 2nd was her happy day. Bella was adopted and she went to her new home in Adazi, where her friend Reksis, who was also adopted from Ulubele, welcomed her.

05.08.2017. Megija
Really happy day in the Ulubele was August 5th, when Megija a 4-year-old young dog who had been in the shelter since January 2016 finally met her owner and went to her new home in Kekava. While living in the shelter she had already begun to lose hope and became depressed, but now her name is RAILY and she has once again regained her positive spirit.

09.08.2017. Riziks
On August 9th one of our senior cats named Riziks finally went home. Now he is living in Garkalne district.

10.08.2017. Mia
Little beagle type dog named Mia lost her master, so she had to came and live in Ulubele. We are really glad that she didn`t have to spend in the shelter a long time, because she was really stressed out there. Luckily she was adopted and went on a long journey to her new home in France.

12.08.2017. Umka
UMKA was waiting for her people patiently in the shelter for almost 3 years. On September 12 she was finally adopted and now she is living in Sigulda, where another resident of the shelter will soon join her.

14.08.2017. Kamilla
On August 14th 5-year-old dog named Kamilla met her new owner and went home. This is the second time Kamilla was adopted from Ulubele. Unfortunately her previous masters went abroad and didn`t took her with them. That is why day when Kamilla was adopted again was very happy for both Kamilla and us – the team of Ulubele.

18.08.2017. Skipijs
Dog named Skipijs waited for his new masters more than a year. On August 18th he finally left shelter and went home with his new masters to city Auce.

19.08.2017. Karats
Dog named Karats got to the shelter as an aggressive dog, but was trained by a professional cynologist which achieved that Karats became really smart and good behaved dog. So for this dog we searched experienced master who knows how to train a dog. Finally on August 19th Karats met his new owners and was adopted. Now he lives in Riga.

23.08.2017. Blekijs
Blekijs is really smart and positive dog. These qualities were one of the reasons why in the very short amount of time he left Ulubele and got adopted. On August 23rd he left the shelter to go a long way to his new home in Germany.

26.08.2017. Pucins
Senior dog named Pucins lived in the shelter for more than two years. His patience finally paid off and on August 26th his dreams came true: he went home and now lives in city - Sigulda.

19.08.2017. Social business market
On August 19th Ulubele took part in the Social Business Market in Kalnciema street, where various social enterprises participated in selling beautiful, delicious, valuable things and telling about their work!
Ulubele had the honor to participate in the Social Business Market and sell dog and cat food that was made with brand name – “Ulubele”. Also in this event we informed everyone about the opportunities how it is possible to engage in Ulubele volunteer work so that we all together can help animals who lives in the shelter.

18.-20.08.2017. Rigas festival 2017
From August 18th till August 20th in Latvias capital city Riga we all celebrated Rigas Festival 2017. Celebration took place all over the Riga, but Ulubele representatives together with volunteers and puppies from the shelter visited events in 11th of November embankment street and Esplanade.
In this event we talked about Ulubele and all 400 animals that all so badly want to be adopted and go home. Also we told everyone how to become a volunteer in Ulubele and participate in Ulubele school of humanity.

20.08.2017. Great Puppets and talisman celebration 2017
In Rigas Festival 2017 happened 8th Great Puppet and Talisman festival of which main event was the march of Great Puppets and Talismans from the Esplanade to the 11th of November embankment street.
Ulubele live dolls named Ullu and Belle with few volunteers also took part in the talisman march and had a great time there.
In general a record number of participants took part in the Great puppet and Talisman Festival this year representing 20 institutions and companies. Overall there was 34 big dolls and talismans.
The Great Puppets and Talisman Festival was attended by fun monsters named Wendy, cocks from the bird factory “Kekava”, turtles names Turtle Wax, food basket doll named Elvītis, Riga City Police dog named Rotto, Jelgava City talisman named Alnitis, puppet named Tomato, State Police talisman cat named Rudis and beaver named Bruno, dog girl named Lotte from the Inventor's village, bear from smart shop, the tigers, the dog and cat named Ullu and Belle from animal shelter Ulubele, Baltiņš and Monika, puppets of the protein and the ice cream and Riga's cock with his girlfriend Chicken.

8.,9.,10.,29.,30.,31.08.2017. Ulubele school of humanity
Ulubele school of humanity is summer school where in three exciting and educational lectures we teach children all about the shelter and how to take care about dogs and cats. Lectures are divided in two age groups – group of 6 till 9 year olds and group of 10 till 13 year olds.
In Ulubele school of humanity we:
- Teach how to take care of animals, so that children could grow up as responsible, compassionate and motivated people who care for their pets.
- We develop children's self-confidence and make stronger their ability to take on responsibilities by taking care of animals.
- Children are reading to dogs and cats which is part of animal therapy. It helps children to open up, feel better and feel satisfaction.
- Teach children how to consciously and meaningfully take care of pets with all safety requirements.
- Discuss what to do and how to take care for abandoned animals.
Teachers at Ulubele school of Humanity are shelter dogs and cats, who can teach the main lesson to everyone - love, trust and patience.

In August 9 briefings were held to educate new volunteers who afterwards can come to Ulubele and help in daily work in the shelter. In August overall 64 people got voluntary certificates.
Karlason Plus Ltd representatives, families with children and group of friends came as volunteers to Ulubele to listen humanity lessons, new volunteer briefings and do cleanup in the territory of Ulubele.
