Dolphin therapy can help dozens of seriously ill children in Latvia to live with their disease and to improve their health. It is a specific therapy which involves trained dolphins. A touch by a dolphin activates body as a system and has both physical and psychological effect. Dolphin therapy is an efficient tool supplementing traditional therapy. Dolphin therapy for children is supervised by a specially trained therapist, and, of course, dolphins and a dolphin trainer are part of it. Dolphin therapy usually lasts 5-10 sessions, 25-30 minutes each.
The therapy improves physical condition and emotional status, as well as the ability to focus which allows children to do what they were not able to in regard to both physical development and psycho-emotional aspect. After dolphin therapy, mothers whose children are unable to speak often hear the long expected and the most beautiful word in the world – Mummy.
