Linda is a mother of a three year old boy. Six months after the birth of her son she began to feel serious back pain, allegedly caused by the pressure on the spine during pregnancy and childcare. After having tried out various ointments and medications, she had an magnetic resonance imaging done. A tumour (sacral chordoma) was discovered. Linda immediately underwent a surgery and a radiation therapy, her well-being improved.
This year, 2 years after the surgery, the tumour has enlarged again and it is literally eating away the sacral bone, causing intense pain. Linda is unable to sleep, work, or take care of her child. Another surgery is scheduled on August 1st to remove as much of the tumour as possible, but it has a tendency to recur quickly. Therefore doctors have prescribed proton therapy immediately after the surgery. This therapy is not available in Latvia, but without it Linda has to resign herself to regular surgeries and further collapse of the sacral bone.
Rinecker proton therapy centre in Germany has agreed to treat Linda, but the cost is very high. Current information shows that the cost of 2 months of proton therapy is 28 000 euro, living expenses - 7200 euro, but there is no information about the doctor fees and travel costs. They will be specified according to the results of the surgery. Linda has asked the National health service to cover the therapy costs of 28 000 euro, but the answer will be given after the surgery. All other expenses Linda has to cover herself, but she does not have the necessary amount of money. This is why Linda is asking for help - she needs 10 000 euro, and the expenses will be specified after the surgery.
Linda desperately wants to be healthy, to be the best mom in the world to her son, and to return to work with horses, which is a passion of hers since childhood.
