Young people, whose health has been affected by serious illness or injury from a very young age, aspire to cope better with their illness and so improve their living situation.
Many young people suffer from cerebral palsy, a permanent movement disorder which will affect their whole lives. This disorder restricts their ability to move; these young people require regular exercise, therapy and medical attention, which helps to stabilise and improve their conditions. This care also helps to prevent further deterioration, which can lead to great pain and abnormal development. Regular rehabilitation can prevent the situation worsening in the future and may prevent the need for operations and other, more expensive, treatments. If the disorder has affected the young person’s mental development, then there are therapies and physical activities designed to help the brain to develop.
Help is required with rehabilitation for many seriously ill young people whose families can not afford the required treatments. Let’s help seriously ill young people to get better!
