Ukraine's children go to school during the war too. Despite the continuation of the Russian attack, Ukrainians care about the future of their children. Schools continue their work, bomb shelters are being built, classrooms are restored, and meals are being prepared.
School buses are required to get the children to schools. In peacetime, a public transport network worked, parents took their children by personal transport or school buses. The situation has changed. It is no longer safe to go to school by foot for children in rural areas, because the occupants have mined vast areas. At the beginning of the war, in the eastern regions the school buses were taken away by the occupying forces while in the rest of the area the Ukrainians themselves transferred the buses to the warfront to move the injured, humanitarian aid or soldiers from/to the front lines.
To get children safer to school, Ukrainians ask for help in procuring school buses. Last year, 8 buses have already been sent to Ukraine from Latvia. The cost of a single, used school bus is 7-10 thousand euros.
Let us provide the children of Ukraine with a safe road to school – provide buses!
