Little Paula Luīze is five years old. She is like a small sun; her smile charms the entire family. Unfortunately, Paula cried for the entire first year of her life and smiled very rarely. After four rehabilitation courses in the Clinical Hospital for Children, we found out Paula’s diagnosis – infantile cerebral palsy. Severe hypoxic brain damage with leucomalasia.
In reality, this means that Paula does not crawl, does not walk and does not talk. Her small feet are tensed and sensitive. Paula does not like them touched them and does not put her feet on the ground. The girl has a sweet smile; she can laugh, sit and has also learned to crawl.
Paula is the fourth child of the family. She was born 12 years after the middle sister, who also has severe disability because of brain damage. Paula’s mother has left her job to dedicate all her strength to children.
Mother, father, big brother and sisters are waiting for the day when Paula will run on her own two feet and say “mum”.
