As Russia's aggression in Ukraine continues, we invite Latvian residents to donate towards Bayraktar of Latvia, which the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Latvia plans to acquire from Turkey to hand it over to Ukraine.
"Bayraktar TB2" (Turkish for "flag bearer") is a Turkish-made remote-controlled combat unmanned aerial vehicle/drone. Latvia is not the first country whose citizens have decided to express their support for Ukraine by collecting donations for this combat aircraft. Similar campaigns have already taken place, for example, in Poland, Lithuania, Norway and Canada.
"With a donation towards the Bayraktar of Latvia we have the opportunity to express our support for Ukraine in this cruel war. Alongside Ukrainians, we will convey our greetings to the Russian occupiers!" This is what Ralf Eiland, one of the initiators of the campaign says. His Ukrainian friend Volodymir Biryukov, who is another ambassador of the project, adds: "I am extremely grateful for everything that Latvia has already done for Ukraine! We see it and appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts. This support is also very necessary for my people. The Russian occupation and Vladimir Putin will not succeed, because the strong Ukrainian army has already proven that it can defend not only Ukraine, but also the entire civilized, democratic, and, most importantly, free world!"
It is also possible to donate by calling the donation phone number 9000 6561 (call fee 4.27 euros).
