In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, the Embassy of Latvia, the Honorary Consuls of Latvia in Ukraine, Entrepreneurs for Peace and in partnership with the State Fire and Rescue Service, shipments of humanitarian aid will start to reach the people of Ukraine as soon as next week.
From the aid project ‘Stand with Ukraine’ 2 million euros will be reserved for shipments of humanitarian aid. They will be delivered in cooperation with the State Fire and Rescue Service and form part of a broader aid programme by the European Union, whereas the contents of the shipments will be assembled based on the requirements received from the Ukrainian regional municipalities.
‘I’m very grateful to the team of Ziedot.lv and their manager Rūta Dimanta for their decision to allocate 2 million euros worth of donations to civil humanitarian aid. It’s invaluable assistance. We’re very grateful to our citizens for their enormous response, sincerity and compassion they have shown to the Ukrainian people suffering from the war caused by the Russian invasion. Latvian society - businessmen, NGOs, institutions and citizens - are doing a very valuable job by sourcing the necessary products, supplying transport and providing shelter’, says the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs.
‘The Latvian foreign service led by Edgars Rinkēvičs is doing laudable work not only in support of Latvia, but also of Ukraine. The established route of humanitarian aid will ensure the donations made by the Latvian people reach Ukrainians, who are fighting for the future of their nation, swiftly and safely’, says the head of Ziedot.lv Rūta Dimanta.
